Education

My higher academic endeavors began in Fall 2006. I left the wintry North to go to Covenant College on Lookout Mountain, GA. There, I pursued and acquired a Bachelor of Arts in English. Books and creative writing are my two main hobbies in life. I love getting lost in a story, delving out my thoughts in a story, and spreading the word about how amazing our language is. Once I left college I wasn't sure what to do. I ended up with a lot of jobs in childcare. So, I decided to put my love of learning and love of children together by becoming an elementary teacher. In the Spring of 2012 I went back to Covenant where I completed an adult degree program and acquired a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education. In the Fall semester of my senior year I student taught in kindergarten and second grade at Red Bank. I was blessed to be able to take over a classroom in first grade that Spring semester.

Experience

I began my teaching career as a substitute in Hamilton County. It gave me an idea of the different communities in Chattanooga. In November 2014 I took over a first grade classroom at Red Bank Elementary. I've enjoyed growing here as a first grade teacher. This will be my third full year in first grade.

Bio

I grew up in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. My four siblings are all older than me and still live up North. I decided to make my own path by coming down South for college. I love the mountains here and have stayed since graduating the first time in Spring 2010. I regularly attend Lookout Mountain Presbyterian where I met and married my husband, Drew Baxley. He was born and raised in Chattanooga. It's been great making a home with him here in Red Bank. We love to cook new recipes and bake many pies and cookies.

Among my two main hobbies, reading and writing, I also love to sing. I have been a member of the Chattanooga Bach Choir and sung some amazing scores such as, Bach's B Minor Mass and Mendelson's Elijah. I'm always up for good challenge. I also enjoy singing for my church family in our church choir.
